Rio Tinto, an Anglo Australian mining company, is optimistic about the prospects of the aluminum industry, but cautious about the continued interference of the COVID-19.

　　Rio Tinto's 2020 financial report shows that although the aluminum demand is expected to rebound in 2021, the continued restrictions and political risks of the COVID-19 still exist. The company stated that the demand in the transportation industry was particularly weak in 2020, but the demand in the packaging industry was strong.

　　In China, due to the implementation of stricter environmental measures and the depletion of domestic bauxite deposits, China continues to drive demand for seaborne bauxite.

　　In 2020, Rio Tinto produced 3.18 million tons of aluminum, 56.1 million tons of bauxite, and 8.04 million tons of alumina. The production guidance for 2021 includes an estimated 3.1 to 3.3 million tons of aluminum, 56 to 59 million tons of bauxite, and 7.8 to 8.2 million tons of alumina.
